Platform Engineering in Tokyo🇯🇵
Next week (Feb 10th to 14th 2025), I have the pleasure of visiting Tokyo, Japan, to talk about the past, present, and future of platform engineering in the context of Kubernetes and the cloud native ecosystem.
I was invited to present the Japanese-translated version of my book Platform Engineering on Kubernetes at the Developers Summit 2025 conference.

Check my session here: https://event.shoeisha.jp/devsumi/20250213/session/5546

I am thrilled to go, as I will finally meet @nwiizo, who is an absolute legend, as he translated all the tutorials in the book repository to Japanese and participated in the translation of the book itself. If you are not following him, you should!
I will be signing book copies with @nwiizo here, too, so if you are around Tokyo, come and say hello!

If this were not enough, the Platform Engineering meetup group in Tokyo organized a fantastic event where I will also be presenting with other community speakers:

I must share my appreciation to @jacopen, @nwiizo and all the organizers and speakers for setting up this fantastic event. Click on the image to reserve your spot (in-person or online), as seats are running out.

I will also present at the JJUG (Japanese Java User Group) about the evolution of cloud-native and Java, focusing on how Dapr complements tools like Spring Boot and Quarkus. Please register asap, as space is running out too.

I am looking forward to meet with my friends Kohei Ota from Apple and Shinya Yanagihara from Microsoft who are always supportive and helping me to connect with different communities.
I am looking forward to meeting the Japanese communities; if you want to talk about Platform Engineering, Dapr, or the cloud native ecosystem and you are around Tokyo, come and say hello. I am always happy to have a chat and meet new folks in the ever-changing cloud native space.
After meeting the Japanese community
Last week, I had a fantastic time in Tokyo, Japan, meeting with the CNIA PFEM community and their Java User Group, who hosted a meetup at the Microsoft offices.
I had the pleasure of meeting in person with Nwiizo from Three Shake, covering the state of platform engineering after my presentations at the DevSummit and the CNIA Platform Engineering meetup. Thanks so much, @jacopen and the Cloud Native Innovators Alliance, for organizing a fantastic event with a huge turnout. I was mind-blown 🤯.
I also had the pleasure of hanging out with the folks from AP Communications who are deep into building platforms. I am looking forward to collaborating more with you all. Big shoutout to Hitoshi and
Big shoutout to Shinya from Microsoft and Kaito from HPE for all your support and all the effort that you folks put into building relationships across communities.
