Milestone achieved: Book Published! 🥳
I am happy to announce that my book Platform Engineering on Kubernetes is officially out! You can get the final version of the first edition via the Manning website. You can also order a printed version!
Remember that you can access, use, and share all step-by-step tutorials hosted at https://github.com/salaboy/platforms-on-k8s . If you like the tutorials, please give it a start ⭐️ so the repository gets recommended to people interested in these topics. If you want to contribute to improving or extending these examples, please reach out. I would love to collaborate!
This book would be impossible to write without the support and experience of so many good people from different communities and backgrounds. I did collect a lot of notes about the writing experience, how I make it work for me, and why you should never write a book about Cloud Native technologies 😉 , just kidding!
I will share those learnings as blog posts, or I can even submit a talk to a conference if people find the topic interesting.
Thanks to all who reached out via Twitter or Linkedin.
What’s next?
The second edition already sounds like a possibility, as I left a lot of content out, and I couldn’t cover all the topics I wanted, primarily because of a lack of time and the fact that the project was already taking too long. I’ve got a lot of feedback from the MEAP program (early access), so I have a good idea of which topics must be included in the next iteration.
But much closer than a second edition, I am attending KubeCon NA Chicago in a couple of weeks and hoping to meet you all there.
I am super excited that Diagrid, the company where I am working, decided to buy some copies to share with the attendees so that I will be doing some book signing (Wed Nov 8th between 12:30-2:00pm) at the Diagrid sponsor booth (B27) during the conference. Check this blog post for more details about this: https://www.diagrid.io/blog/diagrid-dapr-kubecon-north-america-2023
If you are attending co-located events, I will present at the first edition of AppDeveloperCon with my friend Oleg from AtomicJar. We will also have some books to share at AppDeveloperCon (Diagrid sponsor booth (table F6)).
I will also be popping up to Codefresh’s booth as they will share with attendees some copies of the Software Deployment with Kubernetes report that I authored based on the book’s content. You can check what Codefresh is planning for the event on their website: https://codefresh.io/kubecon/
If you are going, reach out. My DMs on Twitter @Salaboy are open, and I am actively looking for party recommendations!
